Almost every day another animal becomes endangered. Here is a list of the ones that are in the most danger of extinction with their population numbers not even reaching the thousands.
1. Ivory-Billed Woodpecker: One of the rarest birds in the world, found in the United States. It was believed to be extinct until 2005 when a video confirmed its existence. There are almost none left and it is very uncommon to spot one.
2. Golden Headed Langur: Found in Vietnam. Fewer than 70 are believed to remain in existence.
3. Javan Rhinoceros: Found in Indonesia and Vietnam. Fewer than 60 are believed to remain in existence.
4. Vaquita: This marine mammal is found in the coast of California. Approximately 200-300 are believed to remain in existence.
5. Cross River Gorilla: Found in Nigeria and Cameroon. Fewer than 300 are believed to remain in existence.
6. Sumatran Tiger: Found in Indonesia. Fewer than 600 are believed to remain in the wild.
These are only a few of the endangered species that exist today, but unfortunately might not for much longer. There are many things we can do to keep this from happening, some of them are already under protection. Spreading the word is crucial and the first step towards making changes.
